Modern Workplace - The workplace of the future

With the Modern Workplace, you can work as if you were in the office, wherever you are and whichever device you use. It combines the digitalisation of the workplace with modern hardware, security solutions and cloud services.

What is Modern Workplace?

The focus is on a contemporary, modern way of working that adapts to the diverse needs of all staff.

With the byon Modern Workplace, all systems that were previously hosted entirely or partially on the organisation’s premises are migrated to the cloud. These are predominantly Microsoft cloud services. In accordance with the GDPR, data is encrypted and stored redundantly within the Microsoft environment in German data centres.

Systems that cannot be replicated using Microsoft services, or for which the cost-benefit ratio of migrating to Microsoft services is unfavourable, are operated in your organisation’s private cloud. Here too, the systems are hosted exclusively in German data centres.

In this scenario, apart from user workstations and their peripherals, only passive components – such as switches, Wi-Fi access points and controllers – remain on the customer’s premises. This eliminates the need for new investment in, and replacement of, in-house hardware every 4–5 years; service contracts for hardware and licences; cooling and its maintenance; and security measures such as backups and access controls for active components. All these services are provided by the technical architecture of a cloud service as standard.

Seamless collaboration

The Modern Workplace will simplify collaboration, whether you rely on fixed teams or constantly reconfigure them on an individual and project-by-project basis – exactly as the company’s current staffing situation requires.

Sharing and co-editing documents, as well as supporting new ways of working, will become a central feature of the workplace of the future, regardless of platform, device, generation, discipline or browser.

The aim of the Modern Workplace is to create a standardised infrastructure that is structured and accessible in the same way everywhere, regardless of where employees are or how they access it.

Microsoft’s programmes and services are key components of this. Data and services are delivered via the cloud and are therefore available at all times on all devices.

Teamwork made easy

The use of Microsoft 365 tools such as Teams, Outlook and OneDrive facilitates cross-departmental collaboration. The terms ‘communication’ and ‘collaboration’ are brought to life.

Towards the Modern Workplace

Step 1

Planning and preparation for the migration of all relevant systems to a cloud environment (Microsoft).

Step 2

Setting up and configuring the relevant cloud services and preparing for the migration.

Step 3

Migration of all systems and hot-swapping of existing users on the migration day. Follow-up training sessions on integrating into the new working environment..

byon takes care of the bulk of your migration to the Modern Workplace. Working closely with your departments, we plan all the key steps in the transition together and carry them out. You will be kept informed of all upcoming tasks at all times and will receive close support from one of our project managers, who will accompany you throughout the entire project. Even after the transition, we remain your point of contact and are available to you at any time under the terms of a service agreement.
